Step 1

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F/218 degrees C.

Start by scrubbing and cleaning the sweet potatoes, making sure to leave the skin on. Using a sharp knife, cut sweet potatoes into thin sticks, about 1/4 inches thick.

Step 3

Add the sweet potatoes to a large bowl and cover with cold water. Let them soak for about 30 minutes. Then drain and pat them dry.

Step 4

Combine the sweet potatoes, vegetable oil, melted butter, salt, and cajun seasoning in a large bowl and toss a few times to make sure they are evenly coated with the seasoning.

Step 5

Spread the sweet potatoes evenly on an oiled baking sheet.

Sweet potato fries dipping sauces recommendations

Here are a few great dipping sauces to try with your homemade sweet potato fries.

Honey mustard

Honey mustard is the perfect tangy dipping sauce for french fries, but also wings, burgers, and other pork dishes.

Homemade ketchup

Home-made ketchup is way better than the bottled kind. It’s easy, affordable, and tastes just as good if not better! All you need is tomatoes, vinegar, sugar, salt, crushed garlic, and the following spices: celery salt, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, and ground black pepper.

Hot sauce

You can give your sweet potato fries a nice kick of extra heat by dipping them in hot sauce. I like to make my own, but you could always go for Tabasco from the grocery store’s condiment aisle if you’re in a rush!
