Sweet and Sour Asparagus Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 bunch of fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp of raw honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • Pinch of salt and pepper to taste

Sweet and Sour Asparagus Recipe

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

Sprinkle the fresh asparagus with the olive oil and arrange them in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 3: Vinegar mixture

To make the vinegar mixture, add the raw honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, garlic, salt, and pepper in a small bowl and whisk together.

Step 4

Brush the green asparagus spears with the vinegar mixture.

Cook asparagus for 8-10 minutes, or until they are tender and caramelized.

Step 6

Remove from the oven. You can either serve your sweet and sour asparagus hot or let them cool down to room temperature.

Expert tips

If you’re not a fan of the sweet and sour sauce, you can also try a much simpler recipe. Just brush the asparagus spears with some olive oil and minced garlic clove, and sprinkle with a little salt and pepper to taste. Roast in the oven for 10 minutes or until slightly brown and voila, job done!
